  The Esko girls Track & Field team repeated as Class A True Team Champions Saturday at the Minnesota State True Team Championships in Stillwater, MN.  Esko beat out Blue Earth with 365.5 points to Blue Earth's 426. The Esko boys also finished a very respectable fourth.

  The neighborhood softball rivalry was renewed on Wednesday afternoon in Esko when the Eskomos hosted a strong Carlton Bulldogs team. The Eskomos rode the strong pitching of Abbey Saralampi to a 7-4 victory and bragging rights for the time being.

  Esko’s multi-sport and multi-talented athlete Max Reinertsen has announced his much awaited college decision. Reinertsen has selected Carnegie Mellon as his college of choice to continue his academic and athletic careers.

  The Esko Eskomos picked up their third straight win Thursday as Max Reinertsen and Austin Pera combined on a three hitter as the Eskomos knock off the Bombers in Barnum by a final score of 12-4 in this Polar League Conference match-up.

  It was a complete sweep for the Esko boys and girls track and field teams at the Section 7A True Team meet, which was held in Pierz on Tuesday. The boys scored 347 pints to second place Pillager’s 303 while the girls completely dominated the competition.

  We have all heard non-runners say, “I’ll start running when I see a runner with a smile on his face”. Well it is time to start running. Cloquet High School hosted the third annual Cloquet Relay Races on Friday, an event that produced lots of smiles and a good time for all.

  A significant problem, decades in the making, has risen to the forefront for Esko Athletics. In separate but related instances, the field lighting as well as the bleachers and press box were recently red tagged and put out of service, creating an embarrassing and potentially expensive situation for the football and girls soccer teams.

  The Esko Eskomos baseball team rebounded from Thursday’s tough, one run loss to Two Harbors in a big way on Friday. Esko scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to 10 run the visiting Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers and pick up the 11-1 win at home on Friday.

  It is never easy to win in Polar League baseball. It is usually even tougher to win on the road, but that is what the Two Harbors Agates accomplished on Thursday when they defeated Esko in Esko 3-2 behind a sterling pitching effort by Mark Pearson.

  The Esko Eskomos ended a three game losing streak Tuesday as the Eskomos knocked off Polar League rival Cook County in a Polar League Conference match-up by a 7-5 margin at Esko on Tuesday afternoon. The Eskomos, who fell behind early had to come from behind to knock off the Vikings for the victory.

  Kelly Carlson delivered a booming double at Braun Park on Monday night for the Cloquet girls softball team when they needed it most against next door neighbor Esko. With the Eskomos leading 2-0, and the Jacks struggling to find some offense, Carlson ripped a bases loaded double in the bottom of the fourth inning to score three runs and sending the Jacks on to a 5-3 victory over the Eskomos.

  The Lady Eskomos closed out their 2012 regular softball season at home on Thursday with not only one victory on the afternoon, but it was two wins as the Eskomos knocked off both Hibbing and Deer River in girls softball action.

  Cloquet-Esko's Cori Pelletier finished second Monday in the Mesabi East Girls Golf Invitational tournament at the Legends Golf Course in Biwabik. Pelletier finished second behind Ellie Carlson of Duluth East, who was the medalist on Monday for the Greyhounds.

  MOOSE LAKE- The Eskomos started out fast on Tuesday and jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings and never looked back as they went on to the 15-3 six inning victory over the Rebels in Moose Lake on Tuesday afternoon.

  If anyone thought the #13 was unlucky for the Hermantown Hawks baseball team, they need to re-evaluate their thinking. The Hawks picked up win #14 on Friday when they knocked off Esko 10-0 in a five-inning affair.

The Esko Eskomos threw a monkey wrench into the Carlton Bulldogs plan for a possible Polar League Title as the Esko Eskomos shut out the Bulldogs by a score of 6-0 Wednesday afternoon at Esko.

After absorbing a tough loss last week to Hermantown the Cloquet baseball team bounced back and downed Hibbing in Cloquet 8-4 behind the 3-hit pitching of Taylor Blundell on Thursday night at Ed Mettner Field.

The Esko Eskomos went 2-1 this weekend in the Hinckley-Finlayson baseball tournament in Hinckley to capture third place for the weekend. The Eskomos defeated Hinckley-Finlayson on Friday night, on Saturday the Eskomos lost to the Aitkin Gobblers before rebounding and knocking off Crosby-Ironton and take third place overall.

  The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels Kaitlyn Greene hit two home runs including a three run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to knock off the Esko Eskomos by a score 5-4 at Willow River fields on Thursday afternoon.

  The Cloquet-Esko Lumberjacks and the Hermantown Hawks boys golf teams both competed in the Grand Slam Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Grand Rapids and in Coleraine on Saturday. The meet win went to the host Grand Rapids Thunderhawks and it was Thunderhawks Alec Odegaard who was the medalist with a 148, two shots better the Brent Musich of International Falls.

The complete results are in for the 2012 Hawk Invite held at Hermantown High School on Thursday.  The Host Hermantown boys team won with a team score of 173 points. Esko continued their dominance on the girls side, winning the event with 186 total team points.

  The Moose Lake-Willow River Boys and Esko girls track teams captured first place in their respective divisions at the Two Harbors Invitational in Two Harbors Tuesday. The Rebels captured the title with a fairly wide margin of almost 50 points while the Eskomos edged out the Two Harbors Agates girls track team by on seven points.

  Last week Karson Kuhlman, Westin Michaud, and Neal Pionk were selected from a group of 640 hockey players to participate in the Reebok High Performance U17 hockey showcase final 54 in Plymouth MN from April 21-22. The three showed all in attendance it was no fluke they were chosen as part of the final 54 players with all three finding their way into the scorebooks.
