Rails Draw #1 Seed in State Soccer Tournament
Oct 24 Just days after celebrating the Section 7a Championship and earning a trip to the state tournament, the Proctor boys soccer team learned the first stop on that trip will be #1 seed unbeaten Prairie Seeds Academy. PSA is a charter school in Brooklyn Park with a 9-12 enrollment of 121 and a total k-12 enrollment of 740. Although there are expansion plans, boys soccer is currently its only high school sport. Oct 16 It has often been said that fans are the “twelfth man” and can make quite a difference in a game. In today’s quarterfinal playoff game between Hermantown and CEC the “twelfth man” made quite a difference. Despite the fans from both schools being very enthusiastic, they weren’t the difference. Today the “twelfth man” was a ferocious north wind which played a part in the Hawks 3-2 victory over CEC. Read more

Proctor Boys in Section 7a Championship Game
Oct 19 PROCTOR – Having 13 seniors on your team doesn’t guarantee a win, but it does help in not creating a panic as a tight game progresses. Despite having a couple of good scoring chances, Proctor did not score until three fourths of the way through their semi-final match against North Branch. In the end it was that stay calm demeanor which prevailed, giving the Rails a 1-0 victory and sending them back to the Section 7a title game for the first time since 2003. Read more

Hawks Soccer State Bound
Oct 22 A late goal by Charlie Comnick was just enough offense for the Hermantown Hawks on Thursday night. Playing in the Section 7A boys soccer final against North Branch, Comnick took a crossing pass and booted it past Vikings goalie Austin Holmes in the 69th minute giving the Hawks the title and a state tournament berth. Oct 15 Thursday marked the start of Section 7A boys soccer playoff action with the CEC Lumberjacks getting a 3-0 win over visiting Eveleth-Gilbert. The Jacks netted all three of their goals in the first half and then cruised to the 3-0 victory over the #12 seeded Golden Bears. Read more |
