  The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels picked up their third win a row Saturday afternoon as the Rebels knocked off Pine City in a Section 7AA match-up in Willow River by a score of 70-49. The Rebels, with the win improve their section record to 6-3 on the season as they will have a tough sectional battle on Tuesday.

  ESKO- All season long the Esko Eskomos have lived and thrived off the long range shooting of its team and Friday night was no exception as the host Eskomos held on to defeat the Bombers. They are one win away from capturing the 2010-2011 Polar League Championship after Friday night’s win over rival Barnum by a score of 70-65.

  Caleb Koecher was sitting two points shy of 1000 points for his career and was anxious to get it out of the way in Thursday night’s game against Aitkin. That’s exactly what happened when the opening tip from Taylor Mattison went to Tony Adamczak who made a pass to Koecher for an easy layup and his 1000th point on Thursday night as the Rebels pick up the section win, 61-55.

  The Duluth East Greyhounds came out firing on all cylinders Saturday night as the Greyhounds built a huge first half lead that proved too much for the Lumberjacks to overcome. The Greyhounds win by a score of 103-44 Thursday night at Duluth East High School as the Greyhounds pick up the non-conference victory at home.

  ESKO- Tuesday night saw Marc Peterson nail a long range 3-pointer as time expired in the first half. The shot cut the Lumberjacks five point lead to two at halftime and gave the Eskomos a momentum spark that carried over into the second half as the Eskomos defeated the Lumberjacks by a score of 63-50 Tuesday night at Esko High School.

The Pillager Huskies remained perfect this season in overtime contests as the Huskies picked up their third win in overtime this season to knock off the Bombers by a score of 73-71 at Barnum High School Monday night.

  The Cloquet Lumberjacks lost a sectional matchup Saturday night to the North Branch Vikings by a score of 66-57 at North Branch High School. The Vikings, who had lost 13 straight games, also pick up their first section win of the season.

  The Hermantown boys basketball team picked up a huge sectional win on Saturday afternoon over the Chisago Lakes Wildcats allowing the Hawks to hold on to their current fourth place standings in section 7AAA. The Hawks built up an early first half lead and went on to win by 10 points as the Hawks win at home 78-68.

  CARLTON- On Friday the Bombers let one slip away against the Cook County Vikings and they were looking to rebound in Carlton against the Polar League Rival Bulldogs and that’s exactly what they did Monday night as the Bombers beat the Bulldogs by a score of 73-40.

  The Cloquet boys basketball team jumped out to a nice halftime lead only to see Duluth Marshall Battle back and tie the game and force overtime where Cloquet prevailed and came away with a three point win 56-53 in double overtime.

   The Carlton Bulldogs picked up their second win in a row Monday night as the Bulldogs defeated the East Central Eagles by a score of 59-54. The win also gives Carlton their sixth win of the season under first year head coach Adam Bailey; the most since the 2007-2008 season.

  The Hermantown Hawks picked up a huge Conference win on Friday night as the Hawks defeated the Ashland Oredockers by a score of 73-47 at Ashland High School on Friday night. The win moves the Hawks two points behind Superior in the overall Lake Superior Standings.

  CARLTON- On paper it looked as the Carlton Bulldogs were huge underdogs against the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels Friday night. When the Bulldogs top offensive player fouled out early in the second half, many thought the Rebels would blow away Carlton. But the Bulldogs held strong and battled until the end as the Rebels picked up the conference victory by a score of 62-48.
